Just been out and it's not good on the roads. Cars on the A6 are going at 15mph, the lines are impossible to see, and it's stupidly slippery. Just a warning for anyone venturing out this evening x
Ditto what JoJo just said - I had to drive back from Stockport (got home 15 minutes ago - 8.10pm) and the A6 has NOT been gritted - or if it has, it hasn't worked! Nobody driving past second gear.

I havent seen a single gritter, and considering this has been forecast all week, I can't believe SMBC haven't been around. I drove home from Torkington road to Penmoor chase at 7:10pm and saw 6 cars come off the road!, they were just taking corners and not speeding! The A6 was dreadful and Bramhall Moor Lane was treacherous!
Someone pulled in front of me so I pressed my brakes and started sliding. Thankfully I was only going a few mph and slid into the kerb which stopped me going further. It's blummin' lethal and (like Garthy says ridiculous that the roads haven't been gritted after all the forecasts we've had

The roads have been gritted, stop you moaning.
I live right off the A6 and I have seen gritters all day. Do you know that gritting stops the road freezing, it doesn't melt snow like some kind of underfloor heating.
When snow also melts it washes the girt away.

Therefore it should have been done yesterday night, delays could have cost lives.

At least you have seen the gritter - we are still operating on a single track ploughed for us by a local farmer this morning!!! It's grim in the hills!!!
