Just had a phone call to say that the old Kwik Save car park off Commercial Road has been occupied by gypsies (is it politically correct to say that - I'm not sure).
Can anyone confirm this, or shed any light?

I've just come on to post - looks like you beat me to it.
I can confirm that there is a collection of caravans on Kwik Saves car park, not sure if its 'Travelers' or just a Caravan Show.
Looks like things are looking up for Hazel Grove, it looked indoubt when Kwik Saves or Fresh umm what ever its called, closed down but im glad the space isnt going to waste.
Kevin, anything you can do to welcome our new 'friends'??

Perhaps they came to go to the "Boo" and went away when they saw it was closed!!! Seriously, glad they have moved on.

I can confirm that they have, indeed, moved on...
.... to the train station car park (the one under the bridge).
Also Kwik Saves is having blocks placed at the entrance so no more free parking to us residence.

Yes good news they are gone. I got an officer to go down there after visiting myself and surprise surprise, Adam (the officer) used his initiative and went to the Boo. He asked them to train their CCTV on the itinerants. He then told the travellers they were being watched and he had noted their vehicle no`s, so any tipping would not only be seen but they would have evidence to issue fines.
Might not be why they went but it must have helped.
Good on you Adam and thanks to the Boo.

This could easily have been prevented if the "powers that be" could have been bothered to install a barrier which could be closed at night. We'll now have to suffer this until a warrant for their removal can be served in about four months time.

I wouldn't worry about political correctness on such a dis-respectful group of people.
Imagine the nightmares they are causing for all the commuters out of the Grove by being on the train station car park, not to mention that it is prime theifing ground for the scumbags.
Hate Gypsies with a passion. If the majority of them learned respect, manners and showed a bit of initiative they could intergrate so well into a community as besides them being generally illiterate (ironic that I am struggling to spell that word) they are skilled tradepeople.
Good thinking on the cameras Kevin, I think there is also cameras on the train station car park anyway isn't there?

Re Barriers (powers that be). It is private land and seeing as we don`t have a leader called Muwgabe (is that how you spell it) we have to obey the law. The owners have responded quickly and put in concrete blocks so cars can get it but the travelling caravan show can`t.
I am trying a new trick as the Council has just bought mobile CCTV cameras this week I think and I have asked for them to be tried out here. As for 4 months I know that won`t happen but we must get co-operation from Network Rail as if the Council act it will cost the Taxpayers and take around 5 to6 weeks.
Network Rail can do it in a fortnight.
If my (ahem!) trick works we might chase them round Stockport till they get fed up and p**s off back to Ireland where they belong.
Oh by the way if anyone goes in the Boo pass on my thanks for their part in getting rid of them.
